Psychiatry: A Path to Mental Well-being

Psychiatry is not solely focused on treating mental illness, but also on promoting mental overall mental wellness. Dr. Saheli works with patients to develop coping strategies, manage stress, and enhance resilience. Many patients benefit from Dr. Saheli’s treatment plans, which consist of an integrative approach and personalized recommendations for each individual after she conducts a thorough mental health evaluation. We provide a safe and non-judgmental space for individuals to express their thoughts and emotions, helping them gain a deeper understanding of themselves and their challenges. Through medication, therapy, TMS, ketamine, counseling, and other evidence-based interventions, psychiatry empowers individuals to lead fulfilling and meaningful lives. Our hope is that patients aren’t just coping in life, but rather thriving.

The Importance of Personalized Psychiatric Care

Our psychiatry program acknowledges that each person is unique and requires an individualized treatment plan. This approach goes beyond a one-size-fits-all approach and takes into account factors such as medical history, lifestyle, and personal preferences. By tailoring treatments to the specific needs of each individual, psychiatrists can provide more effective and targeted care, leading to better outcomes and improved quality of life. While many psychiatrists are only able to provide medication, Dr. Saheli is board-certified in Integrative Medicine, which means that she takes a holistic view of treatment. It may be surprising to find out that some patients may not need medication even if they have disorders such as Major Depressive Disorder, PTSD, OCD, ADHD, or anxiety–instead, evidence-based options such as TMS Therapy or ketamine might be recommended, as well as over the counter supplements at times.

They are trained to work with individuals of all ages, from children to older adults. Whether you are struggling with a diagnosed mental health condition or simply going through a difficult phase in your life, we can offer guidance, support, and evidence-based interventions to help you overcome challenges and improve your mental well-being. PSYCHIATRIC ASSESSMENTS AND EVALUATIONS

Psychiatric assessments and evaluations are essential tools used by psychiatrists to gather information about an individual’s mental health status. Through comprehensive evaluations, psychiatrists can identify underlying causes, evaluate symptom severity, and determine the most appropriate treatment options. These assessments may involve interviews, questionnaires, and sometimes collaboration with other healthcare professionals to gain a holistic understanding of the individual’s needs.

MEDICATION MANAGEMENT IN PSYCHIATRY

Medication plays a crucial role in mental health treatment by providing relief from symptoms and supporting overall well-being. Psychiatry is not harmful or scary; rather, it offers effective solutions for those facing mental health challenges. There is absolutely nothing embarrassing about using medication to enhance mental well-being, it demonstrates strength and self-care. In fact, medication can complement other psychological treatment approaches, accelerating results and fostering long-lasting improvements. By embracing all available tools, individuals can embark on a transformative journey towards mental wellness, with compassionate support every step of the way.

Medication management is a crucial aspect of psychiatric care. Our psychiatrist practitioners are qualified medical doctors who can prescribe and monitor psychiatric medications. They work closely with their patients to find the right medication and dosage that will effectively alleviate symptoms and promote stability. Medication management is a collaborative process that involves ongoing evaluation, adjustments, and support to ensure optimal treatment outcomes and minimize side effects.

TRANSCRANIAL MAGNETIC STIMULATION

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Therapy (TMS Therapy) is used as an alternative treatment for depression, anxiety, OCD, and PTSD when traditional antidepressant medication either isn’t working, or comes with too many side effects. TMS Therapy is administered in the office 5 times per week for about 8 weeks, and most people who finish a series of TMS never need to come back for re-treatments or maintenance. TMS Therapy has higher success rates than most antidepressant medications, and many people who complete our TMS Therapy program are in complete remission by the end of their series.

KETAMINE & SPRAVATO ESKETAMINE

Ketamine, used as an anesthetic since 1970, has shown great potential for treating mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD, and OCD over the past quarter-century of research. Unlike traditional medications, ketamine, and its FDA-approved variant esketamine (brand name Spravato), target a different neurotransmitter system, enabling quick results. Patients often report significant symptom relief within 1-3 treatment sessions. Ketamine is administered through IV therapy, while Spravato esketamine comes as a nasal spray. Insurance usually covers Spravato but does not typically cover IV ketamine treatments.
